Peter Hensen

Peter Hensen (born March 25, 1888 in Aachen , † May 11, 1958 ) was a German newspaper publisher, district and state parliament member of the CDU and the center .

Life and work

After attending elementary school and secondary school, he completed a commercial training and moved to Godesberg in 1918. From 1918 to 1933 he was editor and publisher of the Godesberger Volkszeitung.

Political career

Until 1933 he was chairman of the Godesberger Windthorstbund and was chairman of the center parliamentary group in Bad Godesberg until 1926 , but resigned from his position as chairman of the center after he was elected to the district council of Bonn-Land. However, he retained the chairmanship of the Godesberger Windthorstbund until its dissolution. His successors as chairman in the center were forsbach 1927-28 and from 1929 his party friend Joseph Roth (1896-1945). Hensen was a member of the Prussian state parliament from 1918 to 1933. In 1945 he was one of the founding members of the CDU in Berlin and Bad Godesberg. From April 20, 1947 to June 17, 1950, Hensen was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was directly elected in the 009 Euskirchen constituency. On December 31, 1949, as a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, he wrote to the city administration of Bad Godesberg:

Dear City Manager! A circle of friends around the elementary school teacher Joseph Roth, who died as a result of the Buchenwald concentration camp, Bad Godesberg-Friesdorf, Annabergerstr. 74 intends to honor the memory of the former chairman of the Center Party by depicting his life and death as a sign of the time in a script ...

Honors

Peter-Hensen-Straße in Friesdorf is named after him.
