Peter Hess

Peter Hess (born May 14, 1948 in Unterägeri ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ) and lawyer . In 2000/01 he was President of the National Council .

From 1979 to 1982 he was a member of the city council of Zug . In 1983 he was elected to the National Council, of which he was a member until 2003. In 2000/01 he was its president .

He has served on several boards of directors of medium-sized companies. In 1999 he ran for the Federal Council without the support of his party and was narrowly defeated by Joseph Deiss in the sixth ballot .
