Peter König (philosopher)

Peter König (born June 7, 1956 ) is a German professor of philosophy at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . Research focuses on the philosophy of the Enlightenment , German idealism , practical philosophy , cultural philosophy and the methodology of philosophy.

Life

Peter König studied philosophy, literature , linguistics and musicology at the University of Heidelberg from 1976 to 1986 . In 1988/1989 he studied at the University of Pisa . From 1990 to 1995 he was a research assistant at the Philosophical Department at Heidelberg University. König received his doctorate in 1991 on the subject of autonomy and autocracy: on Kant's Metaphysics of Morals and received the Ruprecht Karls Prize for this in 1992. From 1995 to 2000 he was a research associate in a research project of the German Research Foundation and completed his habilitation in 1998. From 2001 to 2003 he was employed at the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences in connection with the processing of the German legal dictionary . In 2005 he was appointed as an adjunct professor at Heidelberg University. In 2007 he received a Thyssen research grant at the literature archive in Marbach am Neckar . In 2007/2008 he took up a professor's position at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg and in 2008 became DAAD visiting professor at the University of San Carlo in Cebu City .
