Peter's legacy
Peter Legat (born May 31, 1958 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian guitarist and composer.
In 1977 he moved to Vienna and began studying architecture. After passing the entrance exam at the Vienna Conservatory , he concentrated entirely on studying jazz guitar, which he graduated with honors in 1985. During this time he toured Austria with the Viennese band Incognito (a coincidental name identical to the English formation) and produced the two albums "Maracuja Uja" (1984) and "Nachmarkt" (1985). Legat played in the 80s a. a. with the bands "Ostinato" and " Harri Stojka Express". In 1993 he founded Count Basic , a band that is based in the acid jazz and soul scene. In 2008 he received the Amadeus Austrian Music Award for the best album in the jazz / blues / folk category for the Count Basic album "Love & Light" together with the singer Kelli Sae . In 2008 an album of another musical project was released under the title "Team Legat". Legat has been teaching electric guitar at the Institute for Popular Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 1994 .
