Count Basic is an Austrian band founded in 1993 around the guitarist Peter Legat . The name of the band is a tribute to the American jazz musician Count Basie . Originally part of the acid jazz scene, their music style developed in different directions - smooth jazz , R'n'B and trip-hop .

history

The band had their first success with the song All Time High (which first appeared on the sampler 1010 City Beat Vol. 2 ). The song, in which the singer Lynne Kieran could be heard, became a radio hit. Soon after, singer Kelli Sae became the band's regular singer. Although the group's first album disappointed, their later release, ML in the Sunshine, reached # 1 on the NAC / Smooth Jazz charts. Movin 'in the Right Direction was # 3 on the Smooth Jazz / New Adult Contemporary charts. The Kruder-und-Dorfmeister remix of the piece Speechless (1996) on their albums Conversions - A K&D Selection and The K&D Sessions became known.

On May 9th 2007 they presented their fifth studio album Love & Light in the Viennese club Porgy & Bess . The group has toured internationally and performed in various European countries.
