Peter Müller (basketball coach)

Peter Müller (* around 1950 in Bamberg ) is a German basketball trainer and player.

Life

Born in Bamberg, Müller was a player on the 1. FC Bamberg team , which was promoted to the basketball league in 1970 . After making the leap into the Bundesliga, he was also part of the Bamberg squad in the top German division.

In 1973 he became a coach at Post SV Bayreuth . He was known for his grueling conditioning units, which he used to get his players in shape in the pre-season. Müller led Bayreuth in 1975 to the newly founded 2nd Bundesliga South and in 1976 to the basketball Bundesliga. He remained a Bayreuth coach until 1978. After the penultimate game of the 1977/78 season, he narrowly escaped a misfortune when, after the game of his Bayreuth team in Gießen, the basket system attached to the ceiling was raised, the board came loose and fell on the floor next to Müller.

From 1979 he formed the coaching team of the Bamberg team with "Pablo" Hartmann , which meanwhile competed in the 2nd basketball league . The return to the first division was just missed in the 1979/80 season, even in the second year under the coaching duo Müller / Hartmann it was not enough to return to the "upper house".
