Werner Hartmann (basketball coach)

Werner "Pablo" Hartmann is a German basketball trainer and former player.

career

Hartmann led 1. FC Bamberg in 1970 as a coach for their first promotion to the basketball league . Then he was active again as a player and was part of the Bamberg Bundesliga squad from 1970 to 1973. He then played at Post SV Bayreuth until 1977 .

From the 1979/80 season, Hartmann and Peter Müller formed the coaching team for 1. FC Bamberg, which was relegated to the 2. Bundesliga in 1978 . The two remained in office until the end of the 1980/81 season.

Hartmann was then assistant coach with the Bambergers, who returned to the Bundesliga in 1982, relegated again in 1983 and rose again in 1984. In December 1984, he was promoted to head coach of the team after Dirk Dunbar was removed from his position. In the 1985/86 season, the Bambergs were temporarily leaders in the Bundesliga under Hartmann's leadership, at the end of the season the team was in sixth place. Hartmann also went into the 1986/87 season as Bamberg's head coach, but was replaced in November 1986 by the American Dan Palmer .

Between 1990 and 1992 he coached the DJK Würzburg team as a coach in the 2nd Bundesliga. At the end of the 1990s, Hartmann was assistant coach of the Bamberg Bundesliga basketball team under Ken Scalabroni and from 1999 to 2002 head coach of SpVgg Rattelsdorf in the second division. From the beginning of the 2003/04 season until December 2003, he held the position of head coach at TSV Tröster Breitengüßbach  (also second division).
