Peter Mihatsch
Peter Mihatsch (born December 26, 1940 in Leitmeritz ; † December 7, 2018 in Stuttgart ) was a German industrial manager. He is particularly true as the father of D2 - mobile network in Germany.
Mihatsch studied electrical engineering with a specialization in communications engineering. After stints at the Garching Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics , he started working for Varian Associates in 1966 and switched to Stuttgart-based communications specialist Standard Elektrik Lorenz in 1971 , where he became a general manager. After the takeover by Alcatel , he became Executive Vice President in Brussels. In 1988 he moved to Mannesmann and played a key role in developing the Mannesmann mobile communications division. In 1998 he left the company. After he had meanwhile been site representative of the state of Baden-Württemberg and worked for the Kirch group of the media entrepreneur Leo Kirch , he succeeded Klaus Mangold as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Toll Collect at the end of 2003 .
Since 2005 he has been the recipient of the Alexander Graham Bell Medal from the VAF Telecommunications Association.
