Peter Neitzke
Peter Neitzke (born August 21, 1938 in Berlin ; † March 15, 2015 in Zurich ) was a German architect , editor and publicist .
Life
Neitzke studied architecture at the TU Berlin , a. a. with Oswald Mathias Ungers . He graduated with a diploma in 1966, was politically active at the end of the 1960s as a leading member of the Berlin Socialist German Student Union (SDS) and after its dissolution in 1970 as a co-founder of the Communist Party of Germany (organizational structure) .
He gained practical professional experience in the Kiemle, Kreidt und Partner office in Düsseldorf, and from 1969 to 72 he was a research assistant with Peter Poelzig at the Institute for Hospital Construction at the TU Berlin. Neitzke then worked as a lecturer for architecture and urban planning, u. a. from 1973 at Vieweg Verlag , which published the Bauwelt Fundamente series, for which he was first responsible for Ulrich Conrads and then together with him as editor. He was also the initiator of Centrum in 1992 and publisher until 2005 . Yearbook for Architecture and the City. In the last years of his life Neitzke devoted himself to writing, his second novel was published shortly before his death.
The breadth of his work over about half a century is reflected in a variety of conceptual characterizations: Peter Neitzke was just as much a political activist and critic as an architect, writer, editor and publicist.
