Peter Nuhn

Peter Nuhn (born May 9, 1937 in Deutsch Krone ) is a German pharmacist and natural product chemist . According to his university, Nuhn is considered the "Nestor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in Germany".

Life

Nuhn studied pharmacy from 1955 to 1960 at the University of Leipzig . He received his doctorate in 1964 and completed his habilitation in 1970. In 1975 he was appointed lecturer for natural product chemistry at the University of Leipzig, in 1980 he was appointed to a professorship for pharmaceutical chemistry at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg , where he was Professor Emeritus in 2002.

He is the author of a standard textbook on natural product chemistry and was also involved in establishing the Collaborative Research Center “Bio and Model Membranes” at the universities of Jena and Halle-Wittenberg in 1993.
