Peter Puetz

Peter Pütz (born May 10, 1935 in Menden; † June 17, 2003 ) was a German professor for German studies at the University of Bonn .

Life

He studied German , philosophy and history in Freiburg and Bonn. In 1962 he did his doctorate under Benno von Wiese . In 1969 he obtained his habilitation in Bonn. In 1970 he became Professor of Modern German Literature in Giessen , in 1973 he moved back to Bonn, where he stayed until his retirement in 2000. He also held visiting professorships in Oxford , Chicago, Stanford , Irvine and at Ohio State University . In 1990/91 he was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin . From 1994 he was also a corresponding member of the University of London .

Pütz dealt with Friedrich Nietzsche and the theory of drama , among other things .
