Life

After graduating from the Gutenberg School in Wiesbaden and studying general electrical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt , Peter Pagé worked from 1966 to 1970 as a hardware developer for process computers at AEG in Seligenstadt, where he was the project manager for the development and production introduction of the AEG 60- 10 was responsible.

In 1971 Peter Pagé joined Software AG as one of six employees. From 1975, together with Margit Neumann, he developed the innovative development environment Natural as the first programming language of the fourth generation , which significantly advanced the business success of Software AG and which still supports it today. NATURAL revolutionized the creation of applications on mainframe computers through a completely interactive way of working. This enabled significant increases in productivity and shorter implementation times for application solutions.

From 1977 Peter Pagé was a member of the Management Board responsible for marketing and sales as well as for product development at Software AG, where he built up large parts of the current product portfolio and adapted it to new market requirements over many years in several cycles. In 1990 , he designed and implemented the first service-based software architecture (SOA) with ENTIRE .

Peter Pagé left the company in 1992 after differences on the board of directors about Software AG's future strategy. In the following year he did his doctorate with the subject "Object-oriented software in commercial application" as a Dr.-Ing. at the TU Berlin .

In 1994 Peter Pagé joined Siemens Nixdorf AG as board member for system strategy and application software . In this role, he gave the company a “User Centered Computing” architecture - in principle a service-oriented architecture (SOA) - a uniform mission aimed at the customer and redeveloped the highly fragmented software offering. He retired from active professional life in 1998 and now looks after young companies as a business angel .

Quotes

“The most important component of success is to create an environment where work is done to achieve a goal and not to be busy with something. For every project, there should be a "target projection" at the beginning, which gives an idea of the desired result. Only when everyone involved knows the goal can they work to achieve it. "

- Peter Pagé

“Even with the greatest experience in a field, you usually don't get good results if you apply" ready-made "solutions to a problem. It is important to retain the ability to take an analytical approach in every situation, that is, to first analyze a problem and thus really understand it, in order to then construct a suitable solution for this problem, whereby experience helps immensely. "
