Peter Reichard is a German journalist , screenwriter and former police officer from Hamburg .

Life

After graduating from high school, Reichard went to the Hamburg police force . He was u. a. at the Davidwache in Hamburg-St. Pauli and later switched to the St. Pauli Criminal Police. He became the head of a special group at the Hamburg State Office of Criminal Investigation and in this role was involved in the criminal cases of "Mucki" Pinzner and Fritz Honka, which had become known.

Under Mayor Henning Voscherau and Interior Senator Alfons Pawelczyk , Reichard took over internal investigations against corrupt officials and involvement of politicians, police officers and organized crime from 1980. He worked in a special commission under the direction of Justice Senator Eva Leithäuser as an advisor. The commission investigated around a thousand individual allegations against police officers in Hamburg. As a result, the 25-person burglary department of the Hamburg criminal police was completely disbanded and staffed. In addition, Hamburg's police chief had to resign in 1983.

Peter Reichard switched to journalism and in 1984 wrote a story about the Indian guru Bhagwan . He researched this disguised as a follower in his community Rajneeshpuram in Oregon (USA). From 1985 until 1994 he lived on the Côte d'Azur . He was accredited as a journalist and reported from Monaco on the " World Music Awards ", Formula 1 races in Monte Carlo and the high society in Monaco, as well as on the Cannes International Film Festival .

In the following years he wrote reports for Stern , Brigitte , Geo , Playboy and other German magazines on topics related to crime. He wrote his first screenplay for the crime series " Peter Strohm " (ARD) with the title "Friends never pay" . Since then, Reichard has written other scripts. He also shot various television reports and documentaries.

Controversy over his book

In 2015 Reichard wrote a book about the kidnapping case Natascha Kampusch , which he published in mid-2016 under the title "The kidnapping case Natascha Kampusch - The whole shameful truth". The book describes, among other things, videos that the kidnapper Wolfgang Přiklopil von Kampusch made and himself. Natascha Kampusch saw the description of the recordings as a violation of her personal rights . She applied for an injunction against the publication. The Cologne Regional Court , however, dismissed the beginning of June 2016 the application back and pointed out that Kampusch had described in her own book very similar scenes.
