Peter Reinicke (smelter)

Peter Reinicke (* before 1440 ; † 1518 ) was a German smelter, mountain bailiff and councilor in Mansfeld .

Life

Together with Martin Luther's father , he co-founded a Latin school in Mansfeld. In 1491 he can be verified as a citizen together with Hans Luder as councilor in Mansfeld. In 1509 he was named mayor , and he was also the mountain bailiff of the county of Mansfeld for many years . He operated several mines and the upper hut near Mansfeld. This required an enormous amount of charcoal, most of which he obtained from the Harz Mountains . In 1500 he paid Heinrich Schneidewein , the rent master of Count Botho zu Stolberg , the sum of 80 guilders in order to be able to clear the Museberg and the Tunkelholz over the next two years.

In 1507 Reinicke traveled with Hans Luder to Erfurt for the Luther procession, the ordination of Martin Luther.

In 1509 he was appointed mayor of the city of Mansfeld.

The smelter Hans Reinicke is his son and heir. The daughter Anna Reinicke married the theologian Georg Aemilius .
