Peter Rentsch (historian, November 1937)

Peter Rentsch (born November 12, 1937 in Lausa ; † January 11, 2008 in Sitzenroda ) was a German historian and university professor.

Life

After attending elementary and elementary school in Lausa, Peter Rentsch passed his Abitur at the secondary school in Torgau in 1955 . From 1956 to 1960 he studied at the Philosophical Faculty of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig.

In 1966, Peter Rentsch received his doctorate from the Karl Marx University in Leipzig with a dissertation on the strategy and tactics of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany and the German Democratic Republic in the struggle for a solution to the national question from 1949 to 1952 . In 1982 he successfully defended his dissertation B in Leipzig on the subject of the nation and the national-specific in the program and strategy of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany .

On September 1, 1983, he was appointed full professor for Scientific Communism at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. With effect from January 15, 1991, he was recalled as a university professor.

He was involved as a board member in the Leisniger History and Local History Association and published, among other things, research results on the Buch monastery .
