Peter Riedl (editor)

Peter Riedl (* 1943 in Hanover ) is the founder and until 2019 publisher of the Buddhist magazine cause \ effect . He is a radiologist, meditation teacher and author.

Life

Peter Riedl's family moved to Vienna in 1946, where he grew up. From 1961 to 1968 he studied medicine at the University of Vienna . From 1974 he was a specialist in radiology in Vienna. In 1976/1977 Riedl was head of the X-ray department at the Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa ( Ethiopia ). In 1979 he became a lecturer and in 2000 he qualified as a university professor of radiology. In 1979 Riedl founded the Urania Diagnostic Centerin Vienna and was its director until 2002. He was a founding member and from 1987 to 1997 President of the Association for Diagnostic Imaging - VBDO. From 1989 to 2014 he was chairman of the professional group for diagnostic imaging in Wr. Chamber of Commerce. In 2014 he opened the first purely private institute for imaging diagnostics, 'Bellaria Diagnose' in Austria.

From 1986 he turned to Buddhism and took 'refuge'. In 1989 he became the head of the Buddhist community in Austria . In 1991 he founded the Buddhist magazine cause \ effect . Since 1993 he has been leading meditation and mindfulness seminars. From 1997 to 2002 Riedl was Secretary General of the Austrian Buddhist Religious Society (ÖBR), from 2002 to 2006 he was President. In 1999 he bought the Octopus bookstore . In 2004 Riedl founded the “ Wisdom - Vienna School of Open Meditation ”, and in 2006 he founded the spiritual dormitory Mandalahof in Vienna.

Riedl lives in Vienna and is married to the journalist Elisabeth Riedl.
