Peter Schifko

Peter Schifko (born December 9, 1938 in Marburg an der Drau ; † November 13, 2012 ) was an Austrian Romance scholar , French scholar , Hispanist and linguist .

life and work

Schifko received his doctorate in 1966 at the University of Vienna with the thesis Subjonctif und Subjuntivo. On the use of the subjunctive in French and Spanish (Vienna / Stuttgart 1967) and habilitated there with the script Aspects of a Structural Lexicology. On the designation of spatial relationships in modern French (Bern 1977). From 1981 to 2000 he was full professor for Romance languages ​​at the Vienna University of Economics and Business .

In his (early retirement) retirement he translated numerous theological works from Spanish into German.
