The Schlechtenbach is a three-kilometer long, southwest and orographically left tributary of the Bräumke in Halver in the North Rhine-Westphalian Märkisches Kreis .

The Schlechtenbach rises at 376  m above sea level. NHN east of the Oberhürxtal district of Halver and flows in an easterly direction, taking in several small source streams, through Niederhürxtal and past Dicksiepen to the Schlechtenbach farm of the same name .

Between Clev and Obercarthausen , the Schlechtenbach flows on the left from the Vosssiepen brook , in Obercarthausen it comes from the Asheysiepen brook , behind it from the Kellersiepen brook . At Mittelcarthausen the Schlechtenbach branches into two arms, from which the southern fishponds feed.

Shortly before the confluence with Carthausen in the Bräumke the branches unite again and the Schlechtenbach is dammed in a pond. The Schlechtenbach finally empties at a 284  m above sea level. NHN from the left into the Bräumke approaching from the south .

The 3.277 km long course of the Schlechtenbach ends 92 meters below its source, so it has an average bed gradient of 28 ‰.

The 3.334 km² catchment area of ​​the Schlechtenbach is drained through it via the Bräumke, the Hälver , the Volme , the Ruhr and the Rhine to the North Sea.
