Peter Schmitt (born September 11, 1901 in Ottweiler , † December 15, 1985 in Saarbrücken-Altenkessel ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ).

Live and act

The son of a miller attended elementary school and learned the metalworking and lathe trades. He worked as a railway fitter until April 1934, most recently as a foreman in Hermeskeil . Schmitt married in April 1941.

In December 1926, Schmitt joined the NSDAP ( membership number 49.177). Until 1933 he worked for the party as a cashier, organization, propaganda and local group leader . He was also a member of the Sturmabteilung (SA) and the Schutzstaffel (SS).

After the seizure of power by the National Socialists Schmitt sat from November 1933 until the end of Nazi rule in spring 1945 as MP for the constituency 21 (Koblenz-Trier) in the Nazi Reichstag . On April 1, 1934, he took over the position of a representative and shop steward of the Reichsbahn's liaison staff at the Trier-Saarbrücken Reichsbahndirektion , which he was to hold until December 1, 1935. Schmitt was NSDAP district leader for Trier-Land, later Trier-Land-Ost, based in Hermeskeil, since 1932. In addition, he held various honorary positions in local authorities. During the Second World War he served as a lieutenant in the reserve of an engineer battalion.
