Peter Seibert

Peter Seibert (born June 27, 1948 in Weiskirchen , Saarland ) is a German media scientist and Germanist .

Life

From 1968 to 1973 Peter Seibert studied German , history and art history at the Saarland University and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1977 he received his doctorate in the field of " Early Modern Literature " and from 1978 worked as a research assistant to Helmut Kreuzer at the University of Siegen . There he completed his habilitation in 1987 on literary sociability.

In 1991 he was appointed to a university professorship for German studies with a focus on the social history of literature at the University of Siegen. This was followed by an appointment at the University of Kassel , where he held the university professorship for “Literature and Media” at the Institute for German Studies from 2001–2013.

Seibert was project manager in the DFG special research area “Screen Media” at the University of Siegen on the relationship between theater and television (1989–2000) and head of the DFG project “Exhibition Aesthetics” at the University of Kassel (2003–2006).
