Peter Senft

Peter Senft (born March 21, 1949 in Bremen ) is a German lawyer, trade union official, politician ( SPD ) in Bremen and Berlin and a diplomat. He was a member of the Bremen citizenship .

biography

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1969, he did a banking apprenticeship at Dresdner Bank in Bremen until 1971 and then worked there as a banker.

From 1971 to 1979 he studied law at the University of Bremen . From 1979 to 1987 he was a lawyer at the Bremen District Court and Regional Court, and later at the Bremen Higher Regional Court. From 1980 to 1984 he was admitted to the Law Society, London . From 1980 he conducted research at the Institute for Advanced Legal Studies in London and until 1981 at the Institute of Criminology and King's College in Cambridge . From 1981 to 1984 he was DAAD lecturer (lecturer) for German law at the University of Surrey .

In 1985 he became state manager in Bremen and from 1986 to 1990 he was federal manager of the Social Association Reichsbund in Bonn, (today Social Association Germany (SoVD)).

From 1991 to 2005 he was secretary to the executive board of IG Metall , to the Berlin-Brandenburg district management from 1995 in the Berlin office and from 2002 to 2005 to the IG Metall district management Berlin-Brandenburg-Saxony. From January 2006 to December 2009 he worked as a social officer at the German Embassy in the Republic of South Africa in Pretoria . In 2010 he returned to the Executive Board of IG Metall and was posted to the Secretariat of the European Metalworkers Federation (EMB) in Brussels, Belgium. Since November 2011 he has been a social officer at the German Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt in Cairo.

From 1991 to 2005 he was an honorary judge at the Brandenburg State Labor Court in Potsdam.

Senft has been a union member since 1971 and volunteered in various functions until 1991. He was a youth representative, a works council member and a member of the staff council. He is currently Chairman of the Staff Council at the Cairo Embassy.

Senft is married to Renate Oppl-Senft. They have two grown children, Hannah and David.

politics

Senft became a member of the SPD in Bremen in 1966 and was chairman of the local association, Juso sub-district chairman of Bremen and a member of the Juso state board. Since 1980 he has also been a member of the Labor Party . From 1986 to 1990 he was in the SPD district Middle Rhine and in the SPD local association committee of Bad Godesberg-Nord . From 1991 until today he has held positions in the Berlin SPD, a. a. as district chairman from Berlin-Zehlendorf and as deputy district chairman in Steglitz-Zehlendorf . From 2002 to 2005 he was a member of the party council of the Federal SPD as a representative of the Berlin regional association.

He was a member of the Bremen Citizenship from December 15, 1971 to 1979 and worked in various deputations and committees of the citizenship, for example in the deputations for the administration of justice and the penal system, for education, in the data protection committee, as chairman of the institution's advisory board for the youth penitentiary and as a member of the Institutional Advisory Board for Adult Prison.

Senft has been a member of the board since 1991 and has been deputy chairman of the Haus am Lützowplatz art development association since 2003 , which runs the gallery of the same name for contemporary art in Berlin.

Senft is active in the Evangelical Church. Most recently he was a member of the Teltow-Zehlendorf District Synod of the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia from 2000 to 2005.
