Peter Siedek

Peter Siedek (born May 26, 1905 in Vienna ; † May 8, 1984 in Cologne ) was an Austrian civil engineer specializing in geotechnical engineering.

Siedek studied civil engineering at the Vienna University of Technology from 1924 to 1930 . He then worked for the Austrian Federal Railways , Redlich and Berger (construction of Großglocknerstrasse 1931/32) and was Karl von Terzaghi's assistant in Vienna in 1932/33 (among other things for geotechnical investigations for the Reichsbrücke Vienna) and then at Degebo in Berlin . There, too, he was involved in geotechnical work on the construction of the Reichsautobahn.

He was a member of the board of directors of the DGEG when it was founded in 1951. At that time he held the position of a regional building councilor.

From 1961 to 1965 he was acting head of the Federal Highway Research Institute in Cologne and government building director. He had the title of professor.

Siedek died in 1984 shortly before his 79th birthday. His grave is in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (hall 84).
