Peter Frederick Simpson (born January 13, 1945 in Great Yarmouth , Norfolk ) is a retired English football player .

life and career

Simpson began his career in football as a kit attendant in 1960. In 1961 he joined the youth team at Arsenal FC . A year later he turned professional. He made his debut for the Gunners against local rivals Chelsea on March 14, 1964. Initially, the midfielder only had to sit on the bench, but from the 1965/66 season he became a regular in London. In the summer of 1967 and 1968 he was loaned to US clubs for a few months.

With Arsenal FC, Simpson won the Exhibition Cities Cup once , and the English double in 1971 consisting of the championship and the FA Cup . After many injuries, he ended his career on the island in early 1978 and played for almost two years in the North American Soccer League for New England Tea Men .
