Peter Stupel

Peter Isajew Stupel , Bulgarian Петър Исаев Ступел (born April 27, 1923 in Sofia , Bulgaria ; † November 30, 1997 , ibid) was a Bulgarian composer .

Life

Peter Isajew Stupel completed his music studies with Andrej Stojanow in 1947 at the National Music Academy “Prof. Pantscho Vladigerov ” . He then studied from 1949 to 1951 with Leó Weiner and Pál Kadosa at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. After his return to Bulgaria he found work at the radio station Radio Sofia and as an assistant to the symphony orchestra of his former music academy. From 1953 to 1965 he worked as a composer for the ensemble of the army band. For five years from 1967 to 1972 he was music director for Bulgarian television. As director of the Sofia Music Weeks festival he was responsible from 1980 until his death.

Stupel had been working as a film composer since the mid-1950s . So he wrote the music for films like The whole city is looking for Vera , men on business trips and maneuvers on the 5th floor . As a songwriter, he was also responsible for several children's songs and pop songs. He wrote a musical, two operettas and a children's ballet.

Stupel was married to the opera singer Lidija Stupel until his death. They had a son, the composer Juri Stupel .
