Peter Truhart

Peter Truhart (* 1936 in Hamburg ) is a former German diplomat who was ambassador to Guinea between 1984 and 1987, among other things .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1955, Truhart began studying law and Eastern European history at the Free University of Berlin , graduating in 1961 with the first state examination in law. In 1962 he began studying Chinese languages at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , which he completed in 1965 with a language diploma. In 1970 he completed his doctorate as Dr. jur. at the Law and Political Science Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn with the dissertation Three systems of general control of the state administration by special organs of the constitution: The systems of the parliamentary commissioner ombudsman, the "general supervision" by the public prosecutor's office in the socialist states and of the Control Council of the Republic of China Taiwan .

In the meantime, Truhart began the preparatory service for the higher foreign service and after its completion worked at the diplomatic missions in New York City , Saigon and as first class counselor at the embassy in the Soviet Union , before becoming a first class legation counselor in the department on June 18, 1973 Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Oceania in the Foreign Office was. He then became ad interim chargé d'affaires at the embassy in Vietnam on April 13, 1976 and at the same time became an employee of the embassy in the People's Republic of China on August 23, 1976 .

In 1984 he became Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Guinea and held this post until 1987. Hubert Beemelmans was then successor . From 1987 to 1990 he was head of the cultural department at the embassy in France and from 1990 to 1998 he was head of the cultural relations department for Africa, Asia, Latin America and UNESCO in the cultural department of the Foreign Office. In this function he was head of the German delegation at the mixed German-Tunisian culture committee in June 1994.

Most recently, Truhart became Consul General in Innsbruck in 1999 and held this position until his retirement in 2000. In addition to his diplomatic career, he has written numerous books on historical and diplomatic subjects.
