Peter Turrini: Returning to my starting point is an Austrian documentary from 2014 by Ruth Rieser about and with Peter Turrini . The film was shown in September 2014 in the Klagenfurt City Theater . The Austrian cinema premiere took place in November 2016 in the Villach film studio .

content

The starting point is the Tonhof in Maria Saal , where Turrini had his first encounter with art and culture, the avant-garde of Austria at the time, as a teenager. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the artist couple Maja and Gerhard Lampersberg ran an open house for writers, painters and composers - from Thomas Bernhard to Christine Lavant , HC Artmann and Friedrich Cerha . For 15-year-old Peter Turrini, the Tonhof was a magical place, his "first home - laboratory, enclave, cradle of Austrian post-war literature". After the death of Gerhard and Maja Lampersberg, the Tonhof was abandoned for a long time and has only been used again as a cultural meeting point for a few years. In this documentary, Ruth Rieser lets the Carinthian playwright have his say in the Tonhof's rooms, he remembers the time when literature and art began, the open atmosphere of the house and his beginnings as a playwright. In addition, excerpts from Turrini's reading “When darkness falls”, in which Turrini processed his memory as a play, can be seen in the neighboring Tonhof-Stadl.
