Ruth Rieser

Ruth Rieser (born March 31, 1965 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian actress, screenwriter and film director.

Life

Ruth Rieser began her acting training at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and graduated in 1989 from the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna . In 1990 she also studied at the École Supérieure d'art Dramatique du Théâtre National de Strasbourg in France, later she studied theater studies at the University of Vienna and completed her master's degree with a thesis on Eleonora Duse .

Ruth Rieser starred in short and television films from 1988. She gained fame through her role as Lotte Zweig in the feature film Lost Zweig , which is about Stefan Zweig's time in exile in Brazil . For this role she was awarded the Candango des Festival de Brasília as "Best Actress" in 2003. The "Candango" is the most important film award in the film country of Brazil.

Born in a film adaptation of a novel by Robert Schindel , co-directed with Lukas Stepanik , is another essential feature film in which she plays Susanne Ressel, her film partner: Peter Simonischek .

In addition to film and television productions, she took on engagements at the Klagenfurt City Theater , the Theater in der Josefstadt and the Stuttgart State Theater .

2011 Film premiere in the Gartenbaukino of her first documentary "You and I", which is about the relationship of a physically impaired woman to her non-disabled partner.

In 2013 she founded RR * Filmproduktion.

In 2014 the documentary film “ Peter Turrini: Return to my starting point ” (90 min. Plus 100 min readings with Peter Turrini ) was released in 2016/17. Award: Academy ROMY - Best Documentary Film 2017

In 2016/17 her first children's feature film “Kinderzauber” / The Magic of Children / “Enfants et Merveilles” with the pantomime Samy Molcho , 27 children and “Circus Dimitri” had its festival premieres.
