Lukas Stepanik (* 1950 in Vienna ) is an Austrian director , screenwriter and producer .

Life

Lukas Stepanik studies directing, scriptwriting and production at the Vienna Film Academy from 1970 . There he graduated in directing in 1976. From 1974 to 1977 he worked as an editor , manager and assistant director at Axel Corti , Käthe Kratz and Peter Patzak . From 1977 Stepanik made his own feature films and documentaries for television as well as independent film productions. In 1980 he was one of the founders of the film production company Extrafilm and began working as a film producer. His first feature film that he made as a director was Kieselsteine in 1982.

Stepanik returned to the Vienna Film Academy in 1984 as an assistant in the directing class. There he taught from 1989 as an assistant professor (lecturer). From 1990 to 1993 and in the summer semester, he was the interim director of the directing class. Since 2002 he has been an associate professor at the Film Academy.
