Peter Winkler von Mohrenfels

Peter Winkler von Mohrenfels (* 1943 in Bad Bevensen as Peter Görgens ) is a German lawyer and former professor at the University of Rostock .

Life

From 1962 to 1967 he studied law in Hamburg , Göttingen , Lausanne and Poitiers . After the first state examination in 1967, he did his legal clerkship in Hamburg . After the second state examination, he was initially an assistant in the economics department in Hamburg, before returning to law in 1973 for his doctorate . In 1975 he completed his doctorate. In 1979 he gave up his family name Görgens in favor of the married name Winkler von Mohrenfels , the family name of his wife Gudrun. In 1984 he also completed his habilitation in Hamburg. Associated with this was the award of the Venia Legendi for the subjects civil law, international private and procedural law and comparative law.

From the winter semester 1982/83 up to and including the winter semester 1983/84, before completing his habilitation, Winkler von Mohrenfels held a chair at the University of Hanover . In the following three semesters (up to and including the summer semester 1985) he was a deputy professor at the University of Munich . In the 1985/86 winter semester, Winkler took up his first professorship at the University of Hamburg, but moved to the University of Munich a year later. From 1991 to 1993, Winkler taught temporarily at the University of Paris II . In the winter semester 1993/94 he moved to the University of Rostock , where he stayed until his retirement in September 2008. From 1998 to 2000 he was dean of the law faculty there. From 1996 to 2008 he was also a member of the 1st Family Senate of the Rostock Higher Regional Court . After his retirement, Winkler von Mohrenfels worked as a lawyer until the end of 2016 .
