Peter Woodring

Peter Woodring (born May 2, 1968 in Kentfield , California ) is a retired American football player .

Woodring started his career with the California University team at UC Berkeley , the California Golden Bears . The attacking midfielder played there between 1986 and 1990 and was voted Most Valuable Player of the Season three times (1987, 1988 and 1990). In 1991 Woodring moved to the German league club SV Wiesbaden . After a season he dared to step into the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV . In the two following years Woodring did not succeed in recommending himself to the North German team under coach Benno Möhlmann for the Bundesliga team. He managed only six missions in the two seasons 1992/93 and 1993/94, most of the time he played in the HSV league team.

For the 1994/95 season he moved to the Danish club Aalborg BK . He made 26 appearances, scored five goals and was Danish champions with the club. Nevertheless, he left the club after a season to join the German league club SV Wehen . In 1996 he returned to the USA and played there with New England Revolution and Columbus Crew , among others .

For the US national team , Woodring played three times in 1993. He made his debut against Russia in February. At the US Cup 1993 he was substituted on against Brazil (0-2) in the 69th minute. His third and last appearance was at the Copa America in 1993 in the preliminary round match against Uruguay (final score 0: 1).
