Peter Zettelmeyer (born January 30, 1900 in Konz ; † April 10, 1981 in Trier ) was a German road construction company and machine manufacturer.

Life

Peter Zettelmeyer studied at the TH Aachen and then joined his parents' company . After the death of his father Hubert Zettelmeyer , he headed the company from 1930 to 1970. As early as the 1950s, he set up a close social network in the company. His strong ties to the Catholic Church as well as his friendship with the then Bishop of Trier meant that he campaigned for charitable purposes in the region around Trier.

Among other things, Zettelmeyer was President of the Trier Chamber of Commerce (1945–1946) and then the Trier Chamber of Commerce and Industry (1947–1967), member of the German Industry and Trade Congress , co-founder of the CDU in the city and district of Trier, member of the Advisory State Assembly of Rhineland- Pfalz and member and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group of the city ​​council in Trier.

In 1949 Peter Zettelmeyer was one of the founders of the Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU) . With Franz Greiss, Peter H. Werhahn , Werner Habig, Theophil Herder-Dorneich , Werner Linnemann, Wilhelm Naegel and August Küster he was a member of the first board.

honors and awards

The city of Trier awarded him the seal of honor in 1962 for his special services as a long-standing city council member. He was the recipient of the Great Cross of Merit with Star of the Federal Republic of Germany and an officer of the French Legion of Honor .
