August Küster (born May 14, 1899 in Warstein , † August 28, 1959 in Bonn ) was a German association official and industrialist.

Life

August Küster studied history, ancient languages ​​and economics. In 1923 he was at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg to Dr. rer. pole. PhD. He initially worked in publishing, but in 1927 he switched to the association for the protection of common interests in Rhineland and Westphalia - known as the Langnam Association - an industrial interest group founded by the Rhenish-Westphalian iron, textile and coal industries . In 1943 he worked for the Essen Gauwirtschaftskammer. After the end of the war he became the managing director of the Essen Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

In 1950 Küster was appointed to the board of directors of the federally owned conglomerate Vereinigte Industrieunternehmungen AG (VIAG) . He was a member of the supervisory board of the United Aluminum Works, among others . He was chairman of the joint committee for housing and settlement of the DIHT / BDI / BDA .

August Küster was one of the co-founders of the Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU) in 1949 . He was a member of the first board with Franz Greiss, Peter H. Werhahn , Werner Habig, Theophil Herder-Dorneich , Werner Linnemann, Wilhelm Naegel and Peter Zettelmeyer . He was a member of the Economic Council of the CDU .
