Peter Zimmermann (* 1940 ) is a Swiss cultural worker .

Life

Zimmermann spent 30 years in various penal institutions in Switzerland. During his time in prison, he was President of the Swiss Prisoners' Union and launched a petition on the house rules of the Regensdorf prison , which resulted in the self-help organization for prisoners and those released, Team 72 . After his release he founded the self-help group for prisoners Reform 91 around 1990 , with which he worked among other things on reasons for youth violence and campaigned politically for the interests of prisoners.

In 1991 he published the cardboard picture book pins in a haystack / Reform 91 prison system . At the same time the book "Prisoners Write for Their Children" was published.

Peter Zimmermann also founded the Korn theater group . In 2003 he staged the interactive play The Scream for Love , which describes “his own biography as a former prison inmate”: “The focus is on reconciliation with one's own family. His granddaughter had inspired him to write the piece. "

With his theater group, he staged the play Violence in Prison in 2011 - does that have to be? , which is about a real murder case from 2008. With the staging of the "perverse" "Murder of Pöschwies", he wanted to "denounce the judicial apparatus".
