Peter Graf zu Bentheim Tecklenburg-Rheda, the third Johanniter Accident Aid President and Commander of Honor.

Peter Moritz Kasimir Helmuth Graf zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg-Rheda (born June 21, 1916 in Berlin ; † March 4, 1987 in Düsseldorf ) was President of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe .

Life

Peter Graf zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg-Rheda came from the noble family Bentheim Tecklenburg-Rheda . He was the eldest of three children from the marriage of Gladys von Franquet and Moritz Reichsgraf zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg-Rheda. He married Frederun Freiin von Kettler in 1956 ; the marriage has two children.

After training as an officer and serving, most recently as a lieutenant, he completed an apprenticeship in 1945 and then worked as a businessman in Düsseldorf.

In 1952 he became local and district representative for the newly founded Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe (JUH) in Düsseldorf. From 1964 to 1984 he was JUH state representative for North Rhine-Westphalia. He was also committed to establishing a JUH in Namibia. As early as 1966, he had acted as acting representative for the sick President Smilo von Lüttwitz . From 1968 to 1976 Peter zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg-Rheda was President of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe. During his tenure, the first foreign aid missions took place in Turkey, Jordan and Pakistan. In 1970 he introduced the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe driving services and in 1974 founded the youth organization of the Johanniter-Jugend.

Count Bentheim was recorded in 1949 as an honorary knight in the Order of St. John, and in 1957 the law Knights of St John defeated. In 1974 he was made honorary commander because of his services to the Johanniter. In 1977 he was awarded the Great Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
