Frank-Jürgen Weise (born October 8, 1951 in Radebeul ) is a German manager . From 2004 to 2017 he was chairman of the board of the Federal Employment Agency and from September 2015 to the end of 2016 he was also head of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees . Life

origin

Frank-Jürgen Weise was born in Radebeul near Dresden. His family moved to West Germany when he was a child, where he grew up in Schweinfurt .

armed forces

After graduating from school in 1971, he enlisted in the German Armed Forces as a temporary soldier for 12 years . He received training as an officer in the army and studied from 1974 to 1978 business administration at the University of Applied Sciences of the Army 1 in Darmstadt. Federal agency for work

In May 2002 the then head of the Federal Employment Agency , Florian Gerster , appointed him to the board as responsible for finances. After Florian Gerster's early replacement, Frank-Jürgen Weise became chairman of the board of the Federal Employment Agency on February 6, 2004 .

Federal Office for Migration and Refugees

Awards

On April 16, 2008, Weise received an honorary doctorate (Dr. rer. Pol. Hc) from the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg . He is a bearer of the Bavarian Order of Merit, the Cross of Honor of the Bundeswehr in gold and the Cross of Honor of the Bundeswehr in silver for special individual achievements. In 2016 he received the Thought Leadership Award from the financial advisor Plansecur.
