The Technical College of the Army 1 (FHSH 1) in the Starkenburg Kaserne Darmstadt was next to the University of Applied Sciences of the Army 2 in Munich one of the two colleges of the army . Before that, it operated under the names of the Army Academy for Mechanical Engineering (1966–1974), Technical Troop School I (1963–1966) and Higher Technical Course (1960–1963).
The Army 1 University of Applied Sciences was gradually integrated into the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich in 1975 together with the Army 2 University of Applied Sciences and the Air Force Technical College in Neubiberg , which was renamed the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich in 1985. The last study course at the Army 1 University of Applied Sciences ended in July 1980. The task of the Army Technical College was to train army service officers to become technical officers with the degree " Engineer (grad.)" Or " Business economist (grad.)" From Education in mechanical engineering and business administration as well as electrical engineering from 1973 .
After the integration of the universities of applied sciences of the army and the air force into the university of the armed forces in Munich, the three faculties with university courses of civil engineering and electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and business administration were created there.
