Heinrich Franke (politician)

Heinrich Franke (born January 26, 1928 in Osnabrück , † June 26, 2004 in Nuremberg ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1984 to 1993 he headed the Federal Employment Agency .

Franke attended elementary school and graduated from a secondary school in Austria in 1942. He began an apprenticeship as an aircraft engine fitter, but had a serious accident in 1943. He then attended engineering school, but had to give up his studies because he was called up for military service in February 1945. He got into Soviet and later Czechoslovak captivity and after his return from captivity he trained as a technician for low-voltage technology. He joined Siemens in 1950 and became a so-called Siemens engineer in 1962. He worked at Siemens in Osnabrück as a salesman and was a member of the Kolping family .

From May 6, 1955 to October 13, 1965, he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for the 3rd to 5th electoral term . He was a member of the DP / CDU parliamentary group from May 9, 1955 to May 5, 1959. After successfully running for the Bundestag election in 1965 , Franke resigned from his Landtag mandate; for him moved Carl Moeller according to the state parliament.

From 1965 until his resignation on April 9, 1984 Franke was a member of the German Bundestag and from 1976 to 1980 chairman of the working group for social and social policy , then until 1982 chairman of the working group for labor and social affairs of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group .

Heinrich Franke has always entered the Bundestag via the Lower Saxony state list.

Public offices

On October 4, 1982 Franke was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Labor and Social Affairs in the Federal Government led by Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl . On March 30, 1984, he left office and became President of the Federal Labor Office. He held this office until 1993.
