Carl Möller (politician)

Carl Möller (born October 29, 1930 in Osnabrück ; † November 5, 2011 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1965 to 1967 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament and from 1981 to 1985 Lord Mayor of Osnabrück.

Life

Möller, born in Osnabrück in 1930, completed his Abitur at the Carolinum humanistic grammar school . He then trained as a bricklayer and studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe . Carl Möller was a member of the student association K.St.V. Zollern-Breslau to Karlsruhe; from 1966 to 1968 he was chairman of the Zollernhaus e. V. Möller wrote his diploma thesis on the subject of urban development and traffic and regional planning. In 1956 he became managing director of his parents' family business.

Möller had been a member of the CDU since 1956. From 1964 to 1987 and from 1991 to 2001 he was councilor of the city of Osnabrück. In the 5th electoral term, he replaced Heinrich Franke in the Lower Saxony state parliament in 1965 , to which he was a member until the end of the 1967 electoral term. From 1981 to 1985 he was honorary mayor of the city of Osnabrück. He had to resign from the office after he had caused a traffic accident under the influence of alcohol and had escaped.

In 1987 his family business went bankrupt. As a result, he also had to sell his villa, which is now the headquarters of the German Federal Environment Foundation . Then he was managing director of the Osnabrück Regional Association .
