Peterhof is a hamlet in the Gersthofen district of Rettenbergen in the Augsburg-Westliche Wälder nature reserve .

history

The hamlet between the Great Forest and the Gablinger Hart got its name from the St. Peter's Chapel, which was first mentioned in 1488. It was rebuilt as a single farm in 1683 after the Thirty Years' War. It initially served as a resting place for the wooden carts on their way to Augsburg . The farm was owned by the Holzen Monastery until 1776 and was then owned by the St. Stephen's Abbey until secularization . The high court was exercised by the Margraviate of Burgau .

At the end of the 18th century, the property below the chapel was separated (house no. 2). At the beginning of the 20th century the hamlet had four properties: tavern (house no. 1), farm (house no. 2), Köhler (house no. 3), shepherd (house no. 4). Peterhof used to belong to the municipality of Rettenbergen. With the incorporation of Rettenbergen on January 1, 1978, the hamlet fell to the city of Gersthofen. Peterhof is ecclesiastically parish to Heretsried .

There is a late Celtic square hill near Peterhof .

Oddities

Due to the delivery organization of the Deutsche Post , the Gersthofer district “Peterhof” was a “ Postort ”, which was assigned to the community of Gablingen by post (until 04/15) with the zip code “86456” .

In several discussions with Deutsche Post and with the involvement of local residents could be achieved that the Postal code "Peterhof" now for all the other in Peterhof Gersthofer current city postal code of "86368" (Date: 04/15) obtained. This does not change the street names.
