The Petroplus-Raffinerie Reichstett (PRR) was a French refinery in Reichstett in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region . Shortly before Petroplus went bankrupt , the refinery was shut down in 2011.

history

The Reichstett refinery was put into operation in 1963 on a 650 hectare site. Initially, Shell, Total and BP were shareholders in the refinery, in 2006 Shell took over the shares of BP and Total.

The refinery was sold by Shell on April 1, 2008 , together with the Berre-l'Etang and Petit Couronne refineries . While the Berre-l'Etang refinery went to Basell , Petit Couronne and Reichstett were sold to Petroplus.

On October 21, 2010, Petroplus announced its intention to shut down the refinery. The crude oil processing was stopped with the depletion of the crude oil stocks in April 2011. Parts of the tank farm will continue to be operated as a terminal by Rubis SCA .

Technical specifications

The refinery was connected to the oil port of Fos-sur-Mer via the southern European pipeline .
