The 1986 season is the first season of the Skaterhockey-Oberliga (also West German Oberliga, WOL), in which a German champion is determined. The organizer is the Skater Hockey Division (FSH) in the German Roller Sports Association . The first German skater hockey champion is the team from Cologne-Deutz, which started the season as RSC Rhineland Cologne / Team Deutz and was so named in the official association magazine Rollsport until the end of the season . Note: The previous year's placement refers to the West German League of the 1985 season, in which only one West German champion has been determined up to this point. With the inclusion of the sport of skater hockey in the German Roller Sports Association, a German champion was determined for the first time in the 1986 season.
mode
The league starts with seven teams. Each team meets every other team in the first and second leg and in a game on a neutral pitch. There are two points for a win and one point for a draw. In the event of a tie at the end of the main round, the direct comparison decides on the ranking. The team that finished the season in first place are German champions.

Explanations:
Climbers
The Crash Eagles Kaarst are the first and the Bullskater Düsseldorf / Team Rams are second in the promotion round from the Rhineland League. The Rams spin off for the 1987 season and set up an independent club called Düsseldorf Rams .
Outsourcing
In the course of 1986 the Skaterhockey Club Cologne was founded, which was spun off from the RSC Rhineland. Until the end of the 1986 season, the team was still listed as RSC Rheinland Köln / Team Deutz in the official tables. The association only noted the spin-off on January 1, 1987. For the 1987 season, the team takes over the place of the RSC team from Deutz in the league under the name SCC Deutzer Haie. The ISHD is already leading the first German champion under the name SCC Deutzer Haie.
fusion
The Cologne-Niehl team and the Cologne-Vingst team in RSC Rhineland will join forces for the coming season to form RSC Rhineland Cologne / Team Vingst.
