Explanations:
  • German champions
  • Relegation
  • Relegated
  • Climbers

The SHC Flingern rise from the association league as champions of the Niederrhein relay and SHC Erftstadt as champions of the Mittelrhein relay. The necessary third climber was determined in a playoff. The TG Münster won against the SHC Cologne with 14: 7 and thus also rose. The SHC Cologne emerged from the merger of the Cologne-Mülheim and Cologne-Dünnwald teams in the RSC Rhineland. In 1988 it was re-established as Cologne SC Hawks .

    Outsourcing

During the season, the previous teams in RSC Rhineland were re-established as independent clubs and took over the respective place in the major league:
RSC Rhineland Cologne / Team Vingst → Cologne SC Vingst
RSC Rhineland Cologne / Team West → HC Cologne-West
RSC Rhineland Bonn → Bonner cops

Already during the 1986 season, but only on January 1, 1987, the RSC Rhineland Cologne / Team Deutz became the SCC Deutzer Haie.

    retreat

After the season the 1st SHC Essen withdrew to the association league.
