The 2001 season was the 6th season of the Inline Skaterhockey Bundesliga . A German champion was determined for the 16th time . The organizer is the Inline Skater Hockey Germany Sports Commission of the German Rolling Sports and Inline Association . The German champions became the Duisburg Ducks , who prevailed against the Düsseldorf Rams in the final .

Unlike in the previous year, the 1st Bundesliga was divided into a north and south season for the first time. The 1st Bundesliga North consisted of eight teams.

The North and South relays start with eight teams each. Within each season, each team meets every other team in the return leg. There are two points for a win and one point for a draw. In the event of a tie at the end of the main round, the direct comparison decides on the ranking. The first four teams of each season reach the play-offs. The winner of the play-offs is German champions.

The teams in ranks five to nine have qualified for the new season. Due to the planned increase to twice ten teams, the two champions rose and the two runners-up in the 2nd Bundesliga are promoted directly to the 1st Bundesliga. The bottom of the table in the 1st Bundesliga North and 1st Bundesliga South contest a relegation against the third in the 2nd Bundesliga North and 2nd Bundesliga South.

Relegation

The relegation was canceled. The Bochum Lakers and the Bockumer Bulldogs waived the relegation and relegated voluntarily. This means that the two thirds in the 2nd Bundesliga were promoted directly to the 1st Bundesliga.

Climbers

After the division into leagues, the IHC Lethmathe Terminators decided not to participate in the 1st Bundesliga North and started in the 2nd Bundesliga North.

Mergers

The first team of the SU Augsburg joined the TV Augsburg , which occupies the place in the 1st Bundesliga. The SU Augsburg then started in the lower divisions.
