The 1988 season is the third season of the Skaterhockey-Oberliga (also West German Oberliga, WOL), in which a German champion is determined. The organizer is the Skater Hockey Division (FSH) in the German Roller Sports Association . The fourth in the previous year, Düsseldorf Rams, prevailed as the new German champion ahead of HC Köln-West. Newcomer TG Münster withdrew from the game during the season.

In the event of a tie at the end of the main round, the direct comparison decides on the ranking. The team that finished the season in first place are German champions.
