The 2002 season was the 7th season of the Inline Skaterhockey Bundesliga . A German champion was determined for the 17th time . The organizer is the Inline Skater Hockey Germany Sports Commission of the German Rolling Sports and Inline Association . The German champions became the Duisburg Ducks , who were able to prevail in the final against the Menden Mambas .

The 1st Bundesliga North started with nine instead of the planned ten teams. The IHC Lethmathe Terminators , promoted themselves, had withdrawn in time after the league division had already taken place and were reintegrated into the 2nd Bundesliga North.

The North and South Relays should start with ten teams each. After the IHC Lethmathe Terminators withdrew in good time, nine teams remained in the northern season. Within each season, each team meets every other team in the return leg. There are two points for a win and one point for a draw. In the event of a tie at the end of the main round, the direct comparison decides on the ranking. The first four teams of each season reach the play-offs. The winner of the play-offs is German champions.

The teams in ranks five to eight have qualified for the new season. The tenth in the table (only in the southern season) will be relegated directly to the 2nd Bundesliga South. The bottom of the table of the two Bundesliga seasons should deny a relegation with the respective second of the 2nd Bundesliga. The two champions of the 2nd Bundesliga go straight to the 1st Bundesliga.

Relegation

The relegation was canceled after the retreats of the Deggendorf Roadrunners and SUC Kosmos Frechen and the merger of the two clubs from Zweibrücken. This means that the two runners-up in the 2nd Bundesliga have been promoted directly to the 1st Bundesliga.
