The 1989 season is the 4th season of the Skaterhockey-Oberliga (also West German Oberliga, WOL), in which a German champion is determined. The organizer is the Skater Hockey Division (FSH) in the German Roller Sports Association . The defending champion Düsseldorf Rams was once again German champion ahead of city rivals Bullskater Düsseldorf.

The league starts with nine teams. Each team meets every other team in the first and second leg and in a game on a neutral pitch. There are two points for a win and one point for a draw. In the event of a tie at the end of the main round, the direct comparison decides on the ranking. The team that finished the season in first place are German champions. The teams in ranks eight and nine are relegated.
