Petrorhagia dianthoides is a species of the rock carnation genus ( Petrorhagia ) in the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae).

features

Petrorhagia dianthoides is a perennial eyrie hemicryptophyte that reaches heights of growth of 10 to 40 centimeters. The stem is not very branched and bare. The inflorescence is heady. The heads consist of 1 to 6 (rarely up to 8) flowers . The bracts are 1 to 2.5 millimeters wide and white-skinned with a white central rib. The petals are 6 to 10 millimeters long, linear, spatulate and white, the nerves are purple.

The flowering period extends from July to August.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 30.

Occurrence

Petrorhagia dianthoides is endemic to Crete in the prefecture of Chania . The species grows on rocks at altitudes from 0 to 700 meters.
