Petrus de Palude
Petrus de Palude (* around 1280; † 1342 ) was a late medieval theologian and bishop .
Peter was a member of the Dominican Order . He received his theological training at the University of Paris . There he was a student of John of Paris (Jean Quidort). In 1314 he obtained the degree of master's degree. In 1329 he was named titular patriarch of Jerusalem and around 1337 Bishop of Couserans . In the emerging theological disputes about the relationship between developing state power and papal power, he advocated - following Thomas Aquinas - a differentiation between the natural and supernatural realms and pleaded for a separation of spiritual power and secular power.
