Petter Norman Rudi (born September 17, 1973 in Kristiansand ) is a former Norwegian football player .

Career

Rudi played in various European clubs during his career. At the beginning he spent five years at the Norwegian club Molde FK , before he switched to KAA Gent in Belgium and AC Perugia in Italy for the first time on loan . After the loan period expired, both clubs wanted to sign the player. Due to the required transfer fee, however, there was no transfer. Rudi then played for half a season at Molde before offers from the Premier League came. Transfer poker eventually consolidated between Southampton FC and Sheffield Wednesday . Sheffield was awarded the contract for £ 800,000, for which Rudi ran for three years.

After Sheffield was relegated from the Premier League in the 1999/2000 season, the midfielder moved back to Norway to Molde and then to Belgium to Sporting Lokeren and Germinal Beerschot Antwerp , and to Austria to FK Austria Vienna . The Vienna stop was extremely unpleasant for Rudi. He never found his form and only came to four championship games and one appearance in the Champions League qualification. He then moved back home to Molde FK before ending his career at KAA Gent in 2007 .

National team

Rudi went through all youth selections and took part with the U20 team in the Junior World Cup in Australia .

He made his senior national team debut on November 26, 1995 against Jamaica . Although he played several qualifying games for major tournaments, he never found himself in one of the final tournament squads.

In total, he completed 46 international matches for the Norwegian national football team , in which he scored 3 goals.
