Palatinate Peasants' War

history
The beginning of the German Peasants' War in the Palatinate on the left bank of the Rhine was marked by the formation of the Nussdorfer Haufen near Landau on April 23, 1525. The Palatinate plundered some surrounding monasteries (including the Order of St. John Commandery Heimbach near Zeiskam and Hördt , where the provost was killed) and castles before taking the city of Neustadt without a fight on May 6th .
The program of the Bauernhaufen was based on the twelve articles that were formulated in Memmingen and of which 25,000 copies were printed. A second pile had formed near Bockenheim . The Palatinate Elector Ludwig V was forced to negotiate with the Geilweiler Haufen and the Bockenheimer Haufen, which began on May 10th in Forst . The lawsuits should be heard in a state parliament . The Elector eventually went from 23 May militarily supported by Kurtrierer troops against the peasant troops before after other princes already in Württemberg and Alsace had put down the rebellions. In the battle of Pfeddersheim , the Palatinate peasants were on 23/24. June finally defeated. 8000 farmers are said to have died here.
